Mission & Discipleship 54 – March 2011

The monthly newsletter from the Church of Scotland’s Mission & Discipleship Council has details of events and conferences, resources and websites to interest just about every section of the church. The March 2011 edition has details of a conference called “All God’s Creatures” organised by Christians in Science, a DVD produced jointly by the kirk’s Ministries and Mission & Discipleship Council on “fresh expressions” of church, and “TryPraying” described as a a 7-day prayer guide to give to those who don’t go to church.

Mission & Discipleship 53 – February 2011

Packed full of events, resources, websites to explore plus information that may be of interest to rural churches, that’s the Church of Scotland’s newsletter from its Mission & Discipleship Council. The edition for February 2011 has details of a series of roadshows run by Christian Aid on the theme of “Helping People In Poverty Out of Poverty”. There is also information about a seminar being run for carers of people with Dementia and another on “Spirituality Through the Eyes of Children”. Looking further ahead there is news of an Easter Event called “Roll Away the Stone” taking place on 22 May and the National Youth Assembly in September, with the theme “Love Life”. And just what is the Scottish Bible Society doing with a refurbished 1967 VW Camper Van? Or, for that matter, what is “Samosa Sunday”?

Church and Society News – February 2011

The February 2011 of the Church of Scotland’s Church and Society newsletter asks the question, “How can your church transform your community?” and also outlines the Council’s response to the issue of Child Poverty. The newsletter offers readers  the opportunity to sign a petition against Human Trafficking and looks forward to Fairtrade Fortnight (28 February – 13 March). Mission & Discipleship 52 – January 2011

The Church of Scotland’s Mission & Discipleship Council produces a monthly online news bulletin with details of events, resources, websites to explore, etc. The January 2011 edition contains resources for marking Homelessness Sunday (30th January) and Poverty Action Sunday (6th February). Looking further ahead it also has details of Lent study resources and a project to mark the 400th Anniversary of the King James (Authorised Version) of the Bible.
