Election of Rev. Elspeth McKay

Following the election by the congregation of Cumbernauld Old Parish Church of Rev. Elspeth McKay to be our next minister we are now invited to sign “The Call” to Elspeth to be our minister. The Call with our signatures – as many as possible, please – will be sent to Falkirk Presbytery, who will then resolve (hopefully!) to sustain the call and set in motion the arrangements for Elspeth’s induction.

All members of the congregation whose names appear on the Electoral Register are invited to sign the Call. This will be available on Sundays 7th and 14th May in the vestibule of the Village church from 10am – 11.30am and at The Forge, Balloch, from 11.30am – 1pm. Those whose names are not on the Electoral Register are invited to sign a Paper of Concurrence which will also be available at the above times. We would encourage everyone to take the opportunity to sign the Call or Paper of Concurrence on the above dates and times.

Anyone wishing to sign the Call or Paper of Concurrence who is unable to do so on the dates and times above can mandate the Session Clerk or an Elder to do so on your behalf. If you would like to mandate the Session Clerk or an Elder to sign on your behalf you will need to complete a Mandate Form which can be obtained from the Session Clerk. Please ask for one as soon as possible and certainly before Sunday 14th May.

Thanks again to everyone for your patience and understanding while we have worked through the various steps in the vacancy process. Once the Call has been signed Falkirk Presbytery Vacancy Procedure Committee will resolve to sustain the Call and determine arrangements and a date for Elspeth’s induction which will be communicated to the congregation in due course.
