Remembrance Day 2018

British Legion poppyTo commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War this year, Cumbernauld Old Parish Church hopes to apply for Heritage Lottery Funding (or, indeed, grants from other sources) to host events in the autumn.

Our initial ideas include a community cinema, arts and crafts workshops and investigating the men from the Village who gave their lives in that conflict. This will culminate in a special display on Armistice Sunday, 11th November 2018.

We are looking for your thoughts and ideas and, better still, help!
If you want more details, or can offer help or suggestions, please leave us a note. Thanks.

Stamps and Coins

Cumbernauld Old Parish Church has been inviting members to collect and donate their used postage stamps over the Christmas period. They will go to the Church of Scotland’s 2017 Stamp Appeal which will provide training materials needed for ministry students with the Presbyterian Church of South Sudan (PCOSS).

The collection boxes in the church vestibule and at Balloch will remain until Sunday 21st January, after which the stamps will be passed on to the team in Glasgow co-ordinating the collection.

Thanks, also, to everyone who has been collecting their small change in coffee jars or similar containers during the past few months. These will also be collected at our morning worship services on Sunday 21st January. Proceeds from this collection will go to Mary’s Meals, a registered charity that provides nutritious meals for children and supports their education in some of the world’s poorest communities.
