Having now heard officially from North Lanarkshire Council that our Sunday let at the Forge Community Centre in Balloch will not be extended beyond the end of September, the Kirk Session of Cumbernauld Old Parish Church has reluctantly agreed, as an interim arrangement, to hold a single service of worship in the Parish Church in the Village on Sundays at the revised time of 11am from Sunday 7 October onwards.
On Tuesday 18th September the speaker at Cumbernauld Old Parish Church Men’s Group will be Joyce Bell from Alva.
Joyce is a nurse at Strathcarron Hospice and, over the years, she and her colleague Caroline have visited South Africa to work with a number of local groups on a variety of health issues, especially HIV and AIDS. They have been sponsored by their local Church of Scotland congregation in Alva and became involved in this project through their association with Graham & Sandra Duncan, who are also our Mission Partners.
Because of our continuing relationship with Sandra and Graham, and the support we give them through our Mission Circle, the Men’s Group has extended an invitation to everyone in the congregation to come along at 7.30pm on Tuesday 18th and hear about the work that Joyce and Caroline have done in South Africa.
The J Team at Cumbernauld Old Parish Church will return on Sunday 9th September following their summer break. We’ll gather in the church for worship at 10.15am and then go across to the Session House for songs, stories and activities. All children are welcome to join us.
Cumbernauld Old Parish Church Men’s Group will be visiting the National Museum of Rural Life in East Kilbride on Wednesday 5th September, leaving from outside the Parish Church at 1.00pm. Any men who would like to join us will be made most welcome. (We will be car-sharing, so places will be limited by the transport available.)
Entry to the museum is £5, (free for members of the National Trust for Scotland or National Museums of Scotland).
Cumbernauld Old Parish Church
