Worship for Wednesday of Holy Week

We are now half-way through Holy Week. Our reflection today considers Jesus’ betrayal as well as a beautiful hymn sung by King’s College in Cambridge.

While you are welcome to watch this video at any time, we suggest you take a few moments out in the evening to watch and reflect.

Worship for Sunday 28th March (Palm / Passion Sunday)

Welcome to our online worship service from Cumbernauld Old Parish Church for Palm / Passion Sunday 2021. Worship is led by our minister, Rev Elspeth McKay and is available here or from the video link below.

You are more than welcome to watch and join in our worship at any time, but why not set aside some time around 11am on Sunday morning, which is our usual time of worship when we are able to gather in person and many of us still keep as our time together, even although we may be in different locations for now.

You may be aware that churches are now able to reopen for public worship, subject to government guidelines about social distancing, etc. We will let you know when we plan to open our doors for Sunday worship ‘in person’ on our website and our social media channels, so please watch this space for further news.

Easter Egg donations

A massive thank you to everyone who has donated Easter eggs for the House of Bread food bank at Cornerstone. Everyone has been so generous and we are genuinely humbled by the number of donations received.

There is still time to drop eggs at the Manse as we will be taking them to Cornerstone on Sunday afternoon. Likewise, if you wish to make a cash donation to the food bank, please pop the money in an envelope, seal it and drop it through the Manse letterbox. We’ll take the monetary donations up to Cornerstone when we are dropping off the eggs. Thank you once more!

Anniversary – and a time to remember

Today marks a year since the beginning of the first lockdown. Below is the link to a short video from Cumbernauld Old to recognise the darkness that has engulfed our nation and people’s lives, with the candle representing a glimmer of hope.

We invite you to please take a moment to reflect and embrace the hope that we share.

If you would like to donate a Fair Trade Easter egg, they are available through Traidcraft. Thank you as always for your generosity!
