Worship on Sunday 5th September

Cumbernauld Old Parish Church invites you to join with us for worship in the Parish Church on Sunday 5th September at 11.00am.
As the minister will be on holiday from 4th-11th September, worship will be led by Ivar Struthers, one of our elders and a Reader in the Church of Scotland.

There is no longer any need to book in advance, but we ask that you try to maintain a safe distance between yourself / your family group and other worshippers while in the church sanctuary. You will still need to wear a face covering, use the hand sanitiser provided and leave your contact details for Test & Protect.
Hymn-sheets will be provided but you are very welcome to bring your own copy of the CH4 hymn-book if you have one.

Our Bible readings this week will be from James 2: 1-10 and Mark 7: 24-30 and our hymns (from CH4) will be:
52 – How lovely is thy dwelling-place
348 – Praise the One who breaks the darkness
193 – God is love: his the care
624 – In Christ there is no east or west

We will no longer be producing recorded services on video, but instead our worship will be ‘live-streamed’ on our Facebook page for those who are unable to attend. Please note that you don’t need to sign-up to Facebook to view these services, they are available to all. Because they are ‘live’ you will need to watch them at 11.00am though.

Pastoral Cover

The minister will be on holiday from 4 – 11 September and if anyone needs urgent pastoral assistance during that time, please call the manse telephone number (01236 728853), where there will be an answering machine message giving details of whom to contact in her absence. Our deacon will be on annual leave from 6 – 19 September.

Harvest Thanksgiving

A bit of advance notice that our Harvest Thanksgiving service in the church will be on Sunday 3rd October.
We invite those attending to bring dried food (e.g. pasta, rice, cereals, etc) or tinned goods and these will be distributed to our local foodbank via our friends at Cornerstone House. Harvest donations can also be left at the Manse for those unable to make it to church on 3rd October.

Sacrament of Holy Communion

Advance notice, too, that we will celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion in church on Sunday 17th October.
There will be different arrangements for everyone this time around, and we’ll let you know about these nearer the time. This is just a ‘date for your diary’ note at the moment.
