Carols by Candlelight fund-raiser

Sadly Cumbernauld Old Parish Church isn’t able to hold our annual Carols by Candlelight fund-raising evening in the Church this year. However, not to be beaten, we have recorded one which is packed with well-known carols and seasonal readings which have been chosen by our fantastic Fundraising Team. Please, do watch, join in if you wish and share.

There are details as to how to donate, if you would like to, at the end of the video. Enjoy!

Doorstep Carols

Church members across Scotland are being encouraged to take part in a nationwide Christmas Carol concert on their doorsteps this Sunday, 20th December.

The initiative has been led by Rev Mike Goss, Church of Scotland minister of Barry Parish Church linked with Carnoustie Church in Angus, and the appeal is for individuals and families across the country to gather in front of their homes for ‘Doorstep Carols’ on Sunday 20th December at 6pm and ensure it is anything but a Silent Night.

We might not be able to do the traditional door to door caroling this year, but this event, featuring five well-known carols, would remind people that Christmas is not cancelled, serve as a “beacon of light in the darkness” and provide a signal of hope for the future.

Mr Goss said, “Doorstep Carols is an opportunity for people to come together in small numbers in a socially distanced and responsible way as part of a wider community across Scotland and celebrate this special time of year.” He continued, “This event is an opportunity to do that and will help capture the joy of song at this special time of year and remind us of the true meaning of Christmas which is principally about hope in Jesus born to be our Saviour.”

So limber up these vocal chords, and get ready to join in on Sunday 20th at 6pm. You can download the carol sheet from this link on our website.

Carols by Candlelight – Coming Soon!

Sadly, because of current restrictions, we are not able to hold our Carols by Candlelight fundraiser in the Church this year. However, we have instead produced an online one packed full of carols and festive readings. You will be able to access it from either our Facebook page or the Church website from Friday 18th December and it can be watched at any time after then.

There will be details at the end of the video about how to make a donation. Watch out for the link – it promises to be an enjoyable event for everyone!
