Tidings of Comfort and Joy

Like many things this year, the annual Gift Service at Cumbernauld Old Parish Church was a bit different in that it was online.

What didn’t change was the response. The compassion and generosity of all who contributed was wonderful to behold. A great array of children’s toys & books, gifts for all ages and festive foods – not forgetting a selection of Cumbernauld Old’s very own chocolate orange Santa hats. If that were not enough, over £500 was donated in cash too.

All of the above has now been safely transported to Bethlehem House of Bread at Cornerstone who will distribute them on our behalf. The cash can be used to buy fresh items or gift vouchers for those in need – and there are many, including around 240 children who will benefit from your thoughtfulness.

So once again. a heartfelt thank you for the unwavering support of the food bank, especially in these strange and troubled times. Your kindness will indeed bring tidings of comfort and joy.

A safe & peaceful Christmas from all at the food bank

Gift Services & Nativity Play

The annual Gift Services at Cumbernauld Old Parish Church will be on Sunday 17th December at 10.15am and 11.45am. We invite those attending to bring a gift for all age ranges (adults as well as children), wrapped or unwrapped, and these will be passed on to our friends at Cornerstone for distribution to people in need in our community.

We’d like to use this opportunity to thank the congregation for its amazing generosity over the past few years.

The 10.15am worship service on Sunday 17th will also incorporate the J Team Nativity Play. We know the young people in our church have been practising hard and we look forward to their interpretation of the Nativity Story on Sunday.

Webb Ivory catalogues 2015

The schools are back in session, the days are getting shorter and festive goods are starting to appear in our shops. Yes, although it’s hard to believe, it’s that time of year again – the Webb Ivory catalogues have arrived! They are bigger and better with a wider range of cards, paper, gifts and lots more.

Cumbernauld Old Parish Church will get at least 25% from each item bought, so just one pack of cards or a roll of wrapping paper will contribute to church funds and so make a difference.

This is an easy, painless method of fund-raising for the church, so please give us your support. Even better, pass the catalogue round your friends, neighbours or workmates too. Get your catalogue – there are plenty to go round – from Wilma Shepherd or Elizabeth Snedden.

Webb Ivory Catalogues

Last year, cards and gifts ordered through Webb Ivory catalogues raised over £200 for Church funds. The new books for 2014 are now available and, if you wish to have a look at one and better still order from one, then please see Wilma Shepherd or Elizabeth Snedden at church any Sunday.

These catalogues are a quick and easy way of buying cards and gifts, while at the same time raising money for the church.
