Worship for Holy Week

On Maundy Thursday 14th April at 7.00pm we will celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion in the Parish Church, Worship will be led by Rev Phyllis Wilson and individual pre-filled Communion cups will be used.

On Good Friday 15th April the church will be open for silent prayer and reflection between 12 noon and 3.00pm with readings on the hour and half hour. Please feel free to drop in for as long or as short a time as you wish.

Worship for Easter Day, Sunday 17th April, will be held in the Parish Church at 11.00am and will be led by Rev Allan Loudon.

Our worship services are open to all and everyone is welcome.

Today is Maundy Thursday, the day when we remember the Last Supper when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and teaches them that no slave is greater than their master.

Maundy Thursday – 9th April 2020

Easter at Cumbernauld Old

A number of worship services will be held at Cumbernauld Old Parish Church during Holy Week. The details are:

Thursday 29th March: the Sacrament of Holy Communion in the Parish Church at 7.00pm

Friday 30th March: the Good Friday Walk of Witness organised by Cumbernauld Churches Together will start from the car park outside the former Dunnes store at 10.30am and after proceeding through the Town Centre will culminate in a short act of worship at the United Reformed Church at around 12 noon.

Also on Good Friday, from 12 noon until 3.00pm, the Parish Church will be open for prayer and reflection with Bible readings and meditations on the hour and half-hour.

Sunday 1st April: let’s celebrate Easter Day together at worship in the Parish Church at 10.15am and at the Forge Community Centre, Balloch at 11.45am.

Easter at Cumbernauld Old

As we approach the culmination of the Easter celebration, just a short note to let you know about our worship services over the next few days:

Maundy Thursday Communion – Thursday 24th March at 7.30pm in the Parish Church
Good Friday Walk of Witness – Friday 25th March – starts from outside Dunnes Store in the Town Centre at 11.00am and will finish at the United Reformed Church around 1.00pm
Good Friday Vigil – from 12 noon to 3.00pm the church will be open for prayer and reflection with Bible readings and meditations on the hour and half-hour. Feel free to drop in and leave at any time
Easter Day – Sunday 27th March – come and celebrate with us at services in the Parish Church at 10.15am and the Forge Centre, Balloch at 11.45am. Note that the J Team in the Village won’t be meeting this Sunday.

Easter at Cumbernauld Old

Thanks to everyone who brought along chocolate Easter Eggs to our services over the weekend of Palm Sunday. These will be distributed by the Social Work Department based in Glasgow to children and families who otherwise wouldn’t have one.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated on Thursday 2nd April (Maundy Thursday) at 7.30pm in the Parish Church.

The Good Friday Walk of Witness, arranged by Cumbernauld Churches Together, will be on Friday 3rd April, starting at 11am from Sacred Heart Church (please be there at 10.45am). We plan to take our usual route through the Town Centre via Kildrum Parish Church, Church of the Holy Name, Cornerstone Church and finishing at Cumbernauld United Reformed Church, where there will be a cup of tea or coffee around 1.00pm.

The Parish Church will also be open for our Good Friday Vigil between 12 noon and 3.00pm. This a time for quiet prayer and reflection in the Church, with a reading, meditation and prayer given on the hour and half-hour. You are welcome to come and stay as long as you wish during the above times.

On Sunday 5th April we celebrate Easter Day at morning worship in the Parish Church at 10.15am and in the Forge Community Centre, Balloch at 11.45am. Note that the J Team are now on holiday until 26th April, although the Sunday School at Balloch are still meeting as usual.
