World Mission Used Stamp Appeal

World Mission stamp appeal 2018As we have done in previous years, Cumbernauld Old Parish Church will be participating in the Church of Scotland World Mission Used Stamp Appeal over Christmas and New Year.

We’re inviting members to cut out and keep the postage stamps from any Christmas Cards they receive. These used stamps can then be put in the collection box which will be in the Church vestibule during December and
the early part of January.

This year’s appeal will help the Reformed Church in Transcarpathia (Ukraine) to run a number of daycare centres providing educational, emotional, and physical support for children and young people with disabilities. The appeal will support the young people to live life in all its fullness and to enjoy opportunities to participate in society and family life.

When cutting the stamps from your envelopes please leave a small, at least ¼-inch (0.5cm), border around the stamp. Thanks!

Stamps and Coins

Cumbernauld Old Parish Church has been inviting members to collect and donate their used postage stamps over the Christmas period. They will go to the Church of Scotland’s 2017 Stamp Appeal which will provide training materials needed for ministry students with the Presbyterian Church of South Sudan (PCOSS).

The collection boxes in the church vestibule and at Balloch will remain until Sunday 21st January, after which the stamps will be passed on to the team in Glasgow co-ordinating the collection.

Thanks, also, to everyone who has been collecting their small change in coffee jars or similar containers during the past few months. These will also be collected at our morning worship services on Sunday 21st January. Proceeds from this collection will go to Mary’s Meals, a registered charity that provides nutritious meals for children and supports their education in some of the world’s poorest communities.

World Mission Stamp Appeal

Following the success of last year’s appeal the congregation of Cumbernauld Old Parish Church is being invited to collect their used stamps over the Christmas and New Year period for the Church of Scotland’s World Mission Stamp Appeal.

This year’s Stamp Appeal will support the Church of South India’s Othara Eco-Spirituality Centre, where people can learn about climate change and the importance of conserving the earth God has given us. In particular, the money raised from the sale of these stamps will support some of the CSI’s ecological innovations including the harvesting and re-use of rain-water, the establishment of a biogas plant to power the kitchens and the development of a small dairy and chicken farm for native breeds. More information about this project is available from the posters on display in the Parish Church in the Village and at the Forge in Balloch. A collection box for used stamps will be available at both worship centres until Sunday 22nd January. Just think of it as your own personal bit of recycling over the Christmas period!
